How to cook bacon in the microwave, simple, fast, and mess-free!
Cooking bacon in the microwave is the fastest way to cook it, and who doesn’t want to make bacon faster? With no grease flying all over the stove or skillets to scrub clean, this method also makes for a quick clean up.
I love this recipe because I can cook bacon in a pinch! When the kids need a quick bite to take with them on the way to school or when I want to top a loaded potato with bacon bits, this recipe never fails! It is so easy to moderate how chewy or crispy my bacon is too, I just keep microwaving it in 1 minute intervals until it’s cooked just how I like it (remember the more bacon cools the crispier it will get too)!

How to Make Bacon in the Microwave – Step by Step
- Line a microwave safe plate with 2 layers of paper towels
- Place 4 slices of bacon on plate (without touching each other)
- Cover with another 2 layers of paper towels
- Microwave on high for 3-4 minutes
- Remove and enjoy!
How to Make Bacon Crispier
If you microwaved your bacon for 3-4 minutes, but it still isn’t as crispy as you usually enjoy it, then pop it in the microwave for another minute. Keep microwaving in 1 minute intervals until you reach your desired crunch! Remember that the longer you let your bacon cool, the crunchier it will become too. Try letting it cool for 5 minutes!
How to Cook More Than 4 Pieces of Bacon in the Microwave
Yes! All you need to do is add another layer of bacon strips on top of the paper towels that are covering the first layer of bacon. Afterwards, cover your second layer of bacon with another 2 paper towels so grease does not splatter your microwave and continue to follow instructions.
Cook bacon in the microwave in under 5 minutes! Depening on how many watts your microwave, cook time may vary.
